Illuminate the Falls for Lung Cancer Awareness Friday November 16, 2012

November is Lung Cancer awareness month

Many of us have had friends and family that have had Lung Cancer. Some that were able to battle the disease and some not so fortunate.

When Adina sent me an email, I  wanted to help spread the word for more Lung Cancer Support:

My mother passed away at the age of 48 from lung cancer 3 years ago, her birthday would have been this Monday. Since her passing I have learned a ton about lung cancer .. like it kills 4 times as many women as breast, colon and uterine cancers COMBINED … yet its the least funded cancer. No wonder the survival rate is less… LESS then 5%!!

On November 16 Niagara Falls will be lit white in honor of Lung Cancer!

Lung Cancer is the #1 cancer killer in the United States;

killing more people annually than breast, colon, liver, kidney, prostate and melanoma cancers COMBINED.

-Lung Cancer kills twice as many women as Breast Cancer each year, yet receives a fraction of the funding, support and resources afforded other cancers and major disease.

-160,000 Americans will succumb to this disease this year

-60 –80% of cases that will be diagnosed this year will be in never smokers or people that quit years ago, with an increasing amount of young, non-smoking women being diagnosed.

With that all said… Please Join Make Some Noise about Lung Cancer and spread the word of this great event happening tomorrow Friday November 16th
